The unprecedented arrival and subsequent impacts of Coronavirus has led us to change how we do some things to help stop the virus spreading and to look out for the health of our guests, our team and our wider community.
We have developed policies and measures which adhere to Government guidelines and minimise the risk of spreading Covid-19. As a result, we have produced our Covid-19 Charter which details what we are doing to make your visit to The Old Mill Inn safer and also what we need you to do to help us maintain our Covid-free status.
Whilst we are doing everything we can to keep The Old Mill Inn Covid-free, please be aware that the contagious nature of covid-19 means that, although we have put in place preventative measures to reduce its spread, the risk of becoming exposed to and/or infected by the virus is still present. We cannot guarantee that you will not be exposed to covid-19 and cannot accept any liability relating to this.
BEFORE YOU COME
Read through our Covid Charter which will be sent to you in advance of your arrival and is available to read on our website. You might want to pack a few items to use whilst you are here, such as:
- Your own face mask(s)/covering – it’s mandatory for patrons to wear a face mask or covering when moving around the business indoors whilst not eating or drinking.
- Disposable gloves if you wear them out and about.
- Hand sanitiser.
Please don’t travel to or visit The Old Mill Inn if you have:
- A high temperature (37.8 degrees or higher).
- A new and continuous cough.
- Loss of taste or smell.
- You are travelling from an area currently in lock-down or with travel restrictions in place.
- You have tested positive for Covid-19 within the last 14 days.
We need a bit more information about your party before you come to stay. All guests will be asked to complete a Guest Health Questionnaire. This information will be held on file for a period of 4 weeks to facilitate Track and Trace/ Test & Protect enquiries, if required.
Diners & Bar Patrons will be asked to complete contact information online to facilitate Track and Trace/ Test & Protect enquiries. Please scan the QR code provided on your table to access the online form. It is mandatory to complete this information.
WHAT’S DIFFERENT IN THE BAR & RESTAURANT
We’re still offering a full Restaurant & Bar service but there are a few changes to this from the Old Mill norm. The biggest change is that you cannot stand in the bar to drink, you must be seated. Our host will welcome you at the entrance to the courtyard and you’ll be shown to a seat if available. Non-resident guests will be allocated tables on arrival and we ask that you vacate your table within 2 hours unless you are told otherwise by our host. Residents may book tables for lunch and dinner as before.
As part of the Government’s Test & Protect initiative, customers must complete contact details via an online form, the details of which will be stored securely online for 4 weeks. This information will help to facilitate any necessary test & protect enquiries. A QR code will be available to scan on your smart phone which will take you to the online form. This form must be completed for each household present within your party. A team member will be happy to assist if you are unable to complete this form on your own, please just ask.
Our menu will be available online which you can access by QR code or by typing oldmillinn.menu into your browser. Sanitised menus are available on request if you cannot use a smart phone.
Once seated your waiter or waitress will take your order and provide you with cutlery, glassware if necessary and condiments all of which will be sanitised.
Our restaurant team will be wearing appropriate PPE and there will be hand sanitiser stations and wipes available throughout the Restaurant & Bar area as well as in our new canvas canopy covered seating area.
Our team are formally trained in food safety best practice which has been enhanced to help stop virus spread. Do let us know of any food allergens as soon as you can.
When its time to pay we will provide you with your bill and ask that you pay by card wherever possible. Our card machine is sanitised with each use and wipes are available.
Cash payments are still accepted if required.
CANVAS CANOPY COVERED SEATING AREA
Our canvas canopy covered seating area provides additional weather-proof space for bar patrons. Our host will seat you in this area and table service will be provided. Please note that standing is not permitted, customers must be seated within this space.
Entering and exiting the canvas canopy covered seating area is via bridge and customers entering from the Inn side of the bridge have right of way over customer exiting the area.
RESTAURANT & BAR TOILETS
Hand sanitiser will be available at the door and anti-bacterial handwash is also available in the sink dispensers.
WHAT’S DIFFERENT IN THE ROOMS
If you have been to stay with us before, you’ll notice that we have had to make some changes in our rooms and across the Restaurant, Bar & Rooms to help keep you and our team safe.
We have removed all non-essential items from rooms such as our guest information guides – this information will be available digitally for you to peruse. Toiletries in the bathroom will be sanitised for your use. Teas & Coffees are single use and will be replaced entirely between bookings. We have sanitised the exterior of our bedroom hairdryers but it is not possible to clean the interior workings, we therefore recommend you bring your own hairdryer with you for use. If you need to use our bedroom hairdryer you do so at your own risk.
Your room will have been thoroughly sanitized ahead of your arrival, fogged to remove any surface bacteria and sealed by our housekeeping supervisor to ensure no-one enters between sanitization and your arrival.
Rooms will still be serviced each day of your stay. When you go for breakfast in the morning, please make sure you have opened the windows to air the room before our housekeeper enters.
There are a number of hand sanitizer stations across the Bar & Restaurant and we have also provided a small bottle for you in your room.
If there are times when we need access to your room during your stay to carry out essential maintenance and social distancing cannot be maintained, we’ll ask you to leave and we’ll give you a call when it’s safe to return.
CHECK-IN & CHECK-OUT
We’ll email you before arrival to check we have all of your details correct and pre-filled out for your check-in.
Check-in and Check-out remains at the usual time of 3PM and 11AM. Please note that early check-in is not available due to the increased time required for sanitisation of rooms and public areas.
When you arrive at Reception, if another guest is checking in please take a seat until our Receptionist is available.
If you haven’t already done so, we’ll ask if you want to book a table for dinner in our Restaurant.
You’ll be shown to your room which will be sanitized and sealed ready for your arrival. Our Receptionist will advise on how to access WiFi and use the facilities in your room before departing.
When it is time to check-out, please leave a window open in your room and the door open to air the bedroom ahead of our house keeper’s entry. At Reception you will be presented with your room bill and payment is requested by card where possible. Our card machines are sanitised between use and wipes are also available at Reception.
Breakfast will be served as normal in our Restaurant between 8am and 10am. We are not currently operating a cold breakfast buffet but we do have cold options on our breakfast menu alongside our cooked options which will be served to your table.
DURING YOUR STAY
Wash your hands frequently for a minimum of 20 seconds with warm water and soap.
Make use of the plentiful hand sanitiser stations.
Need to cough or sneeze? Catch it in a tissue and bin it.
Pay by contactless where you can.
WHILE YOU ARE HERE
We have developed enhanced cleaning to help stop virus spread amongst our guests and our team. From front of house to behind the scenes, enhanced cleaning measures not only mean that we are cleaning more regularly, but that we are zoning in on more high contact areas.
After your room has been sanitised and checked by our Housekeeping Supervisor, it will be sealed to ensure no further access until your arrival.
We have implemented a deep cleaning procedure for all rooms using biocidal cleaning sprays for hard surfaces and for upholstery. These products have the required EN14476 ingredient which has been tested and found to be effective on Covid-19.
Most cleaning is done with cotton/man made and micro-fibre cloths. After each use the cloths are either appropriately discarded or washed at a high temperature for re-use.
Towels and bed linen have all been washed at 60 degrees and are sealed until required for use.
Our final step in sanitisation is to “fog” each room which sprays a fine mist of biocidal cleaning spray across all surfaces in the room after which the room is sealed.
RECEPTION & PUBLIC AREAS
PPE – Our team have all been provided with appropriate PPE and training on how to use them.
Check-in/Check-out – check-in and check-out is available via Reception as detailed in this guide.
Enhanced Cleanliness - In addition to extra cleaning to help stop virus spread, some of our housekeeping and maintenance team may be wearing personal protective equipment whilst keeping our public areas and rooms clean.
To help stop virus spread our team are all:

Trained on physical distancing guidelines and protocols required both behind the scenes and when working with guests.
